A Little About Me

My love of baking started when I was a teenager, making chocolate chip cookies for my dad, the original cookie monster. What began as a simple way to share something sweet with someone I loved quickly grew into something much bigger: a lifelong passion for creating baked goods that bring people together.

Years later, while working at Cosmopolitan magazine in New York City, I became the unofficial office baker. I loved bringing treats to share with coworkers, brightening an ordinary workday with a batch of cookies or something fresh from my tiny Upper West Side kitchen. There was something special about watching people gather around a homemade treat, even in the middle of a busy day in the city.

Back in the days when blogs were the thing, I started my own little corner of the internet called Baking Therapy. It was a place where I shared recipes, documented bits of city life, and celebrated the simple joy of making something delicious from scratch. Looking back, it was an early way of combining two things I’ve always loved: storytelling and baking.

At one point, I even applied to culinary school to pursue my dream of becoming a pastry chef — and I got in! But life had other plans. Shortly after, I met my husband, and my path took a different turn. Although I didn't follow the professional pastry chef route, baking never left me. It was always there, waiting for its next chapter.

When the world slowed down in 2020, I started baking sourdough, learning the rhythms of a starter, the patience of fermentation, and the magic of turning water, flour and salt into something delicious. What started as a new challenge quickly became a passion of its own.

And that brings me to Beth’s Bakeshop.

This little home bakery is the culmination of all those years, experiences, and flour-dusted memories — from baking cookies for my dad, to sharing treats in NYC, to writing about recipes and city life, to falling in love with the art of sourdough.

Whether you're here for a crusty loaf, a sweet treat, or simply the joy of something homemade, I'm so happy to share a little piece of my kitchen with you. Thank you for being here, for supporting this little dream, and for making room at your table for Beth’s Bakeshop.
