Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Bakebug Inc. ("we", "us", or "Bakebug") uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies when you visit bakebug.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which store data directly in your browser. We use both cookies and browser storage — collectively referred to here as "storage technologies" — to make our platform work correctly and to improve your experience.
2. What Storage Technologies We Use
Bakebug uses three categories of storage technology:
Essential (Required)
These are necessary for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled.
Authentication tokens & session identifiers: Keep you logged in securely across page loads.
Security tokens: Protect against cross-site request forgery and other attacks.
Cookie consent record (
bakebug_cookie_consent,bakebug_cookie_consent_date): Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again.
Functional (Required)
These store your in-session and cross-session preferences to make core features work. Disabling them would cause checkout and other key functionality to break. They cannot be disabled.
Shopping cart contents (localStorage): Persists items you've added across page loads and sessions.
Checkout session data (localStorage): Retains your checkout form progress so it isn't lost when navigating.
Notification preferences (
bb_notify_prefs, localStorage): Remembers your notification settings.Navigation & UI state (sessionStorage): Temporarily stores form progress and navigation state for your current session only. Cleared when you close your browser tab.
Analytics (Optional)
These help us understand platform use and help stores measure orders from shared links. They are only used if you consent. You can opt out without affecting shopping or checkout.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4, ID:
G-V8FMV9GTSB): Collects usage data such as pages visited, features used, session counts and browser-generated identifiers. This data is pseudonymous and is not necessarily anonymous. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, to provide the service and derive approximate location. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled. Google Analytics is never loaded unless you explicitly consent. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
If you allow optional analytics, sessionStorage markers limit repeat storefront and named shared-link view counts during a browser-tab session. A signed shared-link receipt is also held in sessionStorage for that tab and can associate a direct order placed within seven days with the last tracked link visited, including a presale or event short URL. Withdrawing analytics consent removes those markers and receipts and stops new view tracking and order attribution. Historical view counts include visits recorded before this consent change. Bakebug short URLs separately count redirect requests on the server without writing analytics cookies or web storage for the click, or retaining a visitor identifier in the count, even when optional analytics is declined. A redirect click does not confirm a storefront visit and can include repeat requests or automated traffic. Stores see aggregate clicks, views, order counts, and order value for each link. An attributed order also keeps its link identifier.
3. What We Do Not Use
We do not use advertising cookies, marketing tracking pixels, or any cookies that track you across other websites for ad targeting purposes. We do not sell data collected via cookies to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
Some of our features involve third-party services that may set their own cookies or use similar technologies:
- Google Analytics — only loaded with your consent. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Square — payment processor for Store Owner transactions. See Square's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — payment processor for Bakebug platform subscriptions. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
5. How to Control Cookies
You can manage your optional analytics preference at any time using the controls below. You can also clear all locally stored data through your browser's settings (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data). Note that clearing storage will log you out and remove your shopping cart and session data.
Most browsers also allow you to block or delete cookies globally. See your browser's help documentation for instructions. Note that blocking essential or functional storage will prevent Bakebug from working correctly.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
7. Contact
Questions about this Cookie Policy: support@bakebug.com
Your cookie choice is saved for 180 days on the website where you make it. Bakebug.com pages share that choice; a bakery’s custom domain keeps its own. Use “Cookie settings” in that website’s footer to change or withdraw consent. Optional analytics stays off without a valid choice, and we honor Global Privacy Control by keeping optional analytics off. A new policy version or an expired choice requires a fresh decision. If your browser blocks preference storage, your choice lasts only for the current visit.
Manage Your Cookie Preferences
Essential and Functional cookies are required for the platform to work. Google Analytics and first-party view and link-to-order tracking are optional — you can change your preference at any time here.
