Prepare a product’s label information

Set food names, ingredients, allergens, quantities, dates, batches and bundle label behavior.

Save the product, then open its Product Label settings. These fields are separate from the storefront description and price.

Food and ingredient information

  • This product gets a product label includes it in label jobs. Turn it off for a product needing no label; it is skipped when printing.
  • Name of the food overrides the printed title; blank uses the product name. Label description (optional) is a separate short line. Choose whether to print the ordered variation.
  • Ingredients follow the order saved in the product's Ingredients & Allergens card. Add and save ingredients there first. In label settings, link allergens and compound sub-ingredients to the shared library. Those links affect other products using the same ingredient.
  • Review declared allergens plus those inherited through ingredients. Bakebug does not infer allergens from their names. Enter any Precautionary / cross-contact statement yourself and acknowledge the completed allergen review.
  • Your product page's Ingredients & Allergens card shows the same allergen information as the label: allergens inherited through ingredients, allergens added by a variation option, sub-ingredients, the precautionary statement and storage instructions. You don't need to repeat them in the description or add "may contain" allergens as tags.
  • Set Net quantity and unit. Configure pack-specific quantities where offered. Canadian stores also have French fields; review both languages where used.

Variants, bundles and printing defaults

Under Variations that change the food, record additional ingredients or allergens for relevant options. Bundle label mode can use one outer-package label, component labels, or both. Components use their own saved label settings.

Enter storage/preparation instructions and optional origin information. Choose Print a packed-on date, Date mark (None, Best before or Use by), optional shelf-life days, and Lot / batch code. Shelf life suggests a date from the production date; the values are confirmed when printing. A lot code can come from the production date or be entered manually.

Choose whether to include the shared business name, address and statement from Printing, then save. Review the print preview and any warnings; missing information or an overfull layout requires a correction before a usable label can be produced.
