Enable unfinished-checkout reminders

Send one recovery reminder to eligible customers who leave checkout unfinished.

Go to Messaging → Reminders → Unfinished checkout reminders. The feature must be available for your store; Coming soon means the switch cannot be enabled yet.

  1. Add a Business Mailing Address under Account to enable reminder email.
  2. Turn on the email switch. Unfinished-checkout reminders currently use email; automated reminder texts are not currently available.
  3. Review Preview email. The Unfinished Checkout Reminder email template controls its customizable wording.

An eligible customer who leaves checkout unfinished can receive one reminder about three hours later, with a link to restore their cart. They must have agreed at checkout to marketing that includes this reminder. Simply visiting your shop, putting an item in a cart, or having a saved customer record does not guarantee eligibility.

The recovery link restores the saved choices where possible; it does not guarantee the old price, reserve stock indefinitely or bypass current fulfillment rules. The customer must review availability and complete checkout. A completed checkout, withdrawn permission, unavailable contact channel or other eligibility check can suppress a reminder.

The reminder is sent by email. The timing is approximate because scheduled processing can delay it. Use Customers → Blasts for a separate campaign; do not expect this switch to message every customer with a historic abandoned cart.

If enabling email fails, check the inline reason and your mailing address. Turning on SMS for order updates or having wallet funds does not enable promotional checkout reminder texts. Payment-due and upcoming subscription reminders have their own channel settings.
