Customize an email template
Edit subjects, messages, variables and buttons, preview changes, or restore defaults.
Go to Messaging → Email Templates. This changes the content of a particular type of customer email, such as Order Confirmation, Quote Ready or Payment Due Reminder.
Edit and save
- Choose a category: Orders, Quotes (or Order Requests), Payments, Marketing, or Subscriptions. Select the template matching the event you want to customize.
- Select Edit Template. The editor starts with your saved customization or the Bakebug default.
- Set Subject Line and Message; both are required. Header Title (Optional) is the large heading inside the email, separate from the inbox subject.
- Use Insert Variables beneath the message to insert the supported fields. These vary by template. For example,
{customerName}supplies the recipient's name;{orderNumber}identifies an order when that variable is available. Preserve the braces and spelling. Use the variables offered by this template rather than inventing a new field. - If Button Text and Button URL are offered, fill in both together. Keep the default customer-page destination when the button needs to open that customer's order or quote. Some templates do not offer a customizable button.
- Select Save Custom Template or Save Changes, then Preview to inspect the formatted email with sample data. Use Close Preview to return.
Automatic content and defaults
Some variables insert a formatted information box, such as a payment summary. The Review Box (Automatic) on the completed-order email is fixed. Editing the message does not turn these into manually editable order records.
Reset to Default removes this template's customization after confirmation. Cancel discards the current edit. Save before switching templates or tabs.
Order/payment messages should describe that transaction; use Blasts for promotions. Changing email wording does not change fulfillment details, prices, payment deadlines or notification preferences. To change the sender or reply address, use Account. If the preview looks correct but no email arrives, follow message troubleshooting.
