Remind customers before a subscription order is generated

Schedule upcoming-order messages relative to generation, rather than delivery.

Under Messaging → Reminders, use Upcoming Subscription Order — Email and, if available, Upcoming Subscription Order — SMS.

  1. Enable the desired channel.
  2. Choose one offset for that channel: email offers 7, 5, 3, 2 or 1 days, and SMS offers 3, 2 or 1 days.
  3. Wait for the automatic-save confirmation. Use the channel's preview button to inspect the sample message.
  4. Customize its wording in the Upcoming Subscription Order email/SMS template if needed.

The offset is before order generation

Bakebug generates a subscription order before its fulfillment date using the product's lead-day override or the store's default. This reminder is sent the selected number of days before that generation date.

For example, with Friday fulfillment and two lead days, order generation is Wednesday. A one-day reminder is due Tuesday. The message can mention Friday as the fulfillment date while the reminder offset is still measured from Wednesday.

This gives the customer time to make subscription changes before an order is generated. The scheduled occurrence must be eligible and the subscription active; this is different from reminding someone to pay an order already created. Email reminders can go to the customer and business; this SMS reminder targets the customer.

SMS requires its settings, consent and funds, and respects sending-window checks. If the expected message is absent, inspect the next occurrence, effective lead days and whether an order has already been generated. Changing the template does not pause a subscription, skip an occurrence or change its fulfillment date. Use the subscription's own controls for those changes.
