Lead time, cut-off and how far ahead customers can order
Stop last-minute orders and limit how far in advance customers can book.
Open Business → Store Configuration to set your default preparation rules, then save. Weekly closures and blocked dates are managed separately in Calendar.
- Lead Days sets the minimum advance notice in days.
- Cut-off Time moves the earliest allowed date forward by one additional day after the daily cut-off, using your business time zone. This can affect orders with nonzero lead days too; it is not only a same-day switch. Leave it empty for no daily cut-off.
- Same-Day Lead Time (Mins) pushes the earliest same-day pickup/delivery slot later so you have time to prepare. If no eligible slots remain, the customer needs a later date.
- Limit Future Availability limits how many months ahead customers can choose. No limit removes that future-window restriction.
In a product's Lead Time card, enable the override to replace the store's Lead Days for that product. The override may be shorter or longer; 0 is a valid override. In a cart, the longest effective product lead time determines the required notice.
For example, a product overriding a 3-day store default with 1 day needs 1 day's notice. Add a different product using the 3-day default, and the cart needs 3 days. The daily cut-off can then add another day.
An open Calendar date can still be too soon, too far away, sold out, or unavailable for the selected method. Test with the actual products and fulfillment method, rather than only checking that the date is not manually blocked.
